This fall public schools in Washington State are required to administer state assessments in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science.  Students will take a shortened version of the test they would have taken last spring, had state testing occurred.  For our school this means:

  • 6th grade students will take the 5th grade Math and ELA Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) and the Washington Comprehensive Science Assessment.
  • 7th grade students will take the 6th grade Math and ELA SBA

8th grade students will take the 7th grade Math and ELA SBA

PCMS will be on an adjusted schedule from Thursday, October 28 to Friday, November 5th. Students will go to three periods and Lynx Life each day.  Classes will be longer to accommodate the testing window. A more detailed schedule can be found by clicking this link (adjusted block schedule):

  • It is important for students to have a good night sleep and come to school on time and feeling rested.
  • Students should have a paper copy of a book to read for when they finish testing.
  • Electronics such as iPads, Kindles, smartphones, Apple Watches, etc. are not allowed to be turned on during testing.
  • Please make sure your student brings their charger and if possible, headphones that can be plugged in to the computer.  Wireless headphones are prohibited during testing.
