WSPTA Legislative Assembly - October 20-21, 2017

Our state PTA organization advocates to decision-makers, locally and in Olympia, for the well-being and education of all children. During the annual Legislative Assembly, delegates decide the public policy positions that guide the state and local advocacy work for Washington State PTA and its associated local PTAs and councils. The 2017 Legislative Assembly will be held on October 20-21 at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma. Our PTSA will be sending one or more representatives to cast our PTSA’s votes at the 2017 Legislative Assembly. To guide our delegate(s), we’d love to hear our community’s opinions regarding the 4 new long-term Resolutions and 7 short-term Legislative Issues that will be debated and voted on at Legislative Assembly. The topics are:

1) Mental Health Needs for Children

2) Trauma Informed Care

3) Increasing Access and Affordability of Post-Secondary Education Degrees and Certificates

1) Best Practices for School Lunch Policies

3) Reducing the Impacts of Gender-Based Violence

4) Equity for Highly Capable
